Carbon and ceramic window tint
Washington Window Tint Law, in Plain English
How dark you can go, what is not allowed, and the doctor's letter exception.
Diamond Luxe tints car, truck and SUV windows at our shop at 6702 Bethel Rd SE in Port Orchard. You choose between two films: carbon, for a dark, clean look at the lower price, or ceramic, our premium film, made to keep more of the sun's heat out of the cabin. Prices start at $149 for the two front windows.
Old tint gone purple or bubbly? We take that off too, from $150, so the new film goes onto clean glass.
1 | Privacy and security
Darker glass makes it harder to see what's inside a parked car, so it's less tempting to break into.
2 | A cooler cabin
Tint cuts the heat and glare coming through the glass, so the car is more comfortable on a sunny Kitsap afternoon.
3 | A clean look
A dark, even shade across every window gives the car a finished look.
4 | Protects the interior
Window film also cuts UV light, which fades and cracks seats and dashboards over time.
Both films are non-metal, so neither will interfere with your phone, GPS or radio, and both come in a range of shades. The real differences are how much heat they keep out, and the price.

| Best for | Privacy and style at the lower price | Cars that sit in the sun, and drivers who feel the heat most |
If you mostly want the look and the privacy, carbon does the job well. Ceramic is worth the extra if heat is what bothers you. Heat figures vary from film to film, so ask us for the numbers of the film we're using when you book.

Washington lets you tint any window except the windshield, as long as it still lets through 24% or more of the light and reflects 35% or less. In short:
Side and rear windows: 24% or more of the light must get through.
No mirror-finish tint, and nothing more than 35% reflective.
No red, gold, yellow or black film, and no tint that is sprayed or brushed on.
If you tint, you need side mirrors on both sides of the car.
A doctor's letter can allow darker tint for a medical need. Keep it in the car.
Not sure which shade is legal on your car? Ask us before you choose.

Choose your film and shade
We talk through carbon or ceramic, and which shades are legal for your windows.
We clean the glass
Any dirt left under the film would show, so every window gets a thorough clean first.
The film is cut to fit
Each piece is shaped to the window it goes on.
It goes on the inside of the glass
The film sits on the inside surface, out of the way of weather and car washes.
Let it cure
Keep the windows rolled up for the few days we tell you. A little haze or a few small water pockets at first are normal; they clear as the film dries.

Neither is better for everyone. Carbon gives you the dark look and the privacy at the lower price. Ceramic is made to keep more heat out, so it suits cars that sit in the sun. Neither affects your phone signal.
-
Not on the windows the 24% rule covers. Washington requires windows other than the windshield to let at least 24% of the light through, and a 20% film lets through less than that. A doctor's letter for a medical need is the exception.

Yes. Tint removal starts at $150. If your old tint has turned purple or started bubbling, we can take it off and put new film on.

Usually a few days, while the film dries. We'll tell you the exact wait for your film when you collect the car; cool, damp weather can make it a little longer.

No. Carbon and ceramic films contain no metal, so they don't block phone, GPS or radio signals.
